ОБЗОРЫ
The article considers a brief history of fishing and its current state in the reservoirs of the Central Federal District. For reservoirs and lakes of the Upper Volga and Oka basins, the dynamics of fish catch on average over the decades from the 60s of the twentieth century to 2023 are presented, and the dynamics of the species composition of industrial catches in these reservoirs is analyzed. The reasons that led to a decrease in the intensity of fishing or its closure in modern market conditions are considered. The description of the features of industrial fishing is presented by groups of reservoirs, depending on the area and volume of fish caught. The first group includes the large Upper Volga reservoirs (Rybinsk, Gorkovskoye), the average annual total catch in each of which exceeds 500 tons. The second group considers the reservoirs of the Upper Volga basin, in which 200–500 tons per year were caught during the Soviet period, and currently the volume of catch has decreased by an order of magnitude or fishing has stopped altogether. The third group of reservoirs includes small reservoirs of the Vazuz hydrotechnical system and cooling reservoirs of energy facilities, in which the volume of catch is currently less than 20 tons, but during their fishery development in the 70–80-ies of the twentieth century in the mode of «pasture fish farming» annual catches reached 100 tons. It has been established that the volume of industrial catch in most of the water bodies of the region has decreased over the two decades of the 21st century. The decline of industrial fishing in the Central Federal District is explained by a complex of socio-economic factors, the main of which is its unprofitability in market conditions, due to the low liquidity of most fishing facilities that form the basis of catch, the lack of the necessary number of catch processing enterprises and the cessation of subsidizing fish harvesters. The forecast of the further state of industrial fishing in the reservoirs of Central Russia is given.
The modern fisheries structure in the most important waterbodies of the Vologda region was discussed in the article. Regional characteristics of the main factors influencing industrial fisheries have been identified. The long-term dynamics of fish catches in the large lakes Beloye, Onega, Kubenskoye, Vozhe, reservoirs Rybinskoye and Sheksninskoye within the region were studied from 1973 to 2022. The importance of the main fish species for fisheries was established, and the seasonal dynamics of their industrial catch was examined. Amateur fisheries in the waterbodies of the Vologda region were described in the article.
The long-term dynamics of commercial catches on Lake Ilmen in the Novgorod region for the period from 1912 to 2023 was traced. The structure of catches and the fishing base is described, taking into account the affecting factors. Specifics of organizing fishing at present stage are given.
In the 21st century, there has been decrease in stocks and catches of aquatic biological resources in Lake Ladoga as well as a change in the structure of the fish population in the Lake, primarily due to changes in the trophic capacity of the reservoir. Smelt dominates in the commercial catches. Stocks and catches of autumn-spawning whitefish and lakecisco show obvious downward trend. Biological and commercial indicators of the pike-perch population are at a low level. Stocks of bream, roach and perch are in good condition.
BIOLOGY OF COMMERCIAL HYDROBIONTS
The current composition of the ichthyofauna and the importance for fisheries of the main fish species in Beloye Lake (Vologda Region) is described in the article based on research materials from 2018 – 2022. The biological features and commercial use of twelve most valuable fish species are summarized as result of the composition of industrial and research catches studies. The size and age composition of catches, the age of puberty, the timing and conditions of spawning, and the feeding patterns of fishes were studied. The influence of net fishing gear with different mesh spacing on commercial fish populations and the magnitude of nets fishing productivity (fishing effort) were studied for the first time. The role of the most important fish species for industrial fisheries in Beloye Lake was assessed.
Pike Esox lucius is one of the key fishing objects in the Kuibyshev reservoir. The article presents materials from various years of research of the pike in the Kuibyshev reservoir and notes the changes that have occurred in its population. The dynamics of the species stock, its role in fishing and influence of individual environmental factors are analyzed.
ПРОМЫСЕЛ ГИДРОБИОНТОВ
Based on the results of ichthyological surveys and industrial catch data, a comparative analysis of the commercial biological characteristics of bream in the Saratov and Volgograd reservoirs was carried out. The material was the results of expeditionary research by employees of the Saratov branch of the VNIRO. With the existing fishery, bream stocks are in a stable condition. The volumes of commercial stocks and catches of the species in question in the Volgograd Reservoir are higher than in the Saratov Reservoir. Despite differences in fishing intensity and characteristics of reservoirs, the size and weight indicators of the species are similar.
The silver bream Blicca bjoerkna and the small-sized common bream Abramis brama are characterized by external similarity, which contributes to manipulations with the substitution of one species (common bream) by another (silver bream) when taking into account the volume of industrial fishing in the Astrakhan region. This is due to the fact that in the period of spring fishing season during common bream spawning migration, the share of non-commercial common bream in commercial catches increases (to 20–30 %), the catch of which is limited in accordance with the Fishing Rules. In order not to exceed the allowable volume of by-catch of non-large common bream, fish producers register en masse catches of small-sized bream as a catch of silver bream, which causes significant damage to common bream fish stocks through oversampling of first-time maturing individuals of the population. In recent years, the share of non-commercial common bream recorded as a silver bream in May alone is 13–28% of its official catch during this period. In order to reduce the catch of first spawning common bream producers of non-commercial length on the water bodies of the Astrakhan region in the period from April 21 to May 20, it is recommended to introduce a ban on industrial fishing of silver bream.
This paper provides data concerning the stocks of green sea urchin, blue mussel and Icelandic scallop. The data was obtained from comprehensive diving surveys in the early 2000s. The paper analyses the catches of invertebrates that were taken in commercial and recreational dive fisheries for the period from 2017 to 2023. This paper states that, for sustainable management and exploitation of these commercially valuable invertebrates in the future, it is obviously required to conduct a comprehensive survey for their stocks in the sublittoral zone of Murman. The future results from this survey are intended to serve as a basis for standards (quotas) that should be established for the fisheries for these species in local areas.

Comparative results of the cultivation of Silver crucian carp in conditions of aquarium circulation systems are presented, in one of which aquaponic cultivation of tomatoes and peppers on a floating bed in a fish tank was used. In comparison with the control, a significant improvement in hydrochemical parameters for dissolved oxygen and a group of nitrogen-containing compounds was noted in the experimental aquarium. The ratio of the specific formation as a result of the vital activity of fish and the absorption of nitrates by plants was 0,8 units. The results showed that for 1 kg of ichthyomass, 26 tomato plants or 34 bell pepper bushes can be planted on a floating bed. In the obtained fruits, the nitrate content turned out to be 2 times lower than the MPC for open and 4 times lower than the MPC for protected soil. The increase in the total ichthyomass of crucians in the experiment turned out to be 1,6 times higher, and feed costs 1,5 times lower than in the control. At the same time, the fish productivity of the aquarium with a floating vegetable garden increased by 9,7%.
The article presents the results of trophological studies of pass-through and riverine fish species in the root channel and delta of the Volga River. The aim of the work was to establish food competitors of juvenile sterlet from artificial reproduction in the places of its release and feeding. As a result, the nutrition spectra and the degree of filling of the digestive tracts of a number of cyprinid, catfish and goby fish species were studied. Based on the conducted studies, the daily rations and the frequency of occurrence of forage organisms in the food of each fish species were determined. The obtained materials are included in the calculation of the receiving capacity and serve as the basis for determining the optimal volume of release of factory sterlet juveniles into the watercourses of the Volga River in the Astrakhan region.
The article presents the results of experimental work on the treatment of fertilized oocytes and developing embryos of the Russian sturgeon (Acipenser gueldenstaedtii) with 0,8% sodium chloride solution by various methods in order to suppress the growth and development of the family micromycetes sem. Saprolegniaceae, which cause saprolegniosis of eggs during factory incubation. Due to the intensive development of commercial aquaculture, an increase in the scale of artificial reproduction, as well as taking into account the limitations of the use of previously used veterinary drugs to combat saprolegniosis of incubated caviar, this research area is relevant. The purpose of the research work was to evaluate the effectiveness of using three different methods of treating caviar infected with micromycetes sem. Saprolegniacea with a solution of sodium chloride. Experimental work was carried out in factory conditions in the incubation apparatus «Sturgeon» under optimal hydrochemical conditions for the development of Russian sturgeon embryos. The experimental groups corresponded to the methods used (therapeutic baths and drip method in the apparatus, therapeutic baths outside the incubation system). The experiment was carried out in parallel in 2 repetitions in the presence of a control. In the course of the work, fish-breeding, biological and hydrochemical research methods were used. The effectiveness of the effect of sodium chloride solution by three different methods (drip method, therapeutic baths in an incubation apparatus of the «Sturgeon» type, short-term therapeutic baths outside the incubation system) on the embryonic development of sturgeon and micromycetes was assessed by such indicators as the percentage of fertilization of eggs, normally and abnormally developing embryos, hatched pre-larvae, the proportion of embryos infected with saprolegnium micromycetes at two stages of caviar development (stages 16 and 22). The most effective method that improves the fish-breeding and biological parameters of incubated Russian sturgeon caviar and reduces the extent of its invasion by family micromycetes sem. Saprolegniaceae is a drip method.
The effect of temperature on feed intake and growth of juvenile Australian redclaw crayfish Cherax quadicarinatus was studied by individual observations. Three temperatures were studied: 19–20°C, 23–24°C and 27–28°C. Tetra Wafer Mix compound was used as feed. The duration of the experiment was 60 days. The correlation of feed intake with temperature, weight of juveniles and molting was shown. At the beginning of the experiment, the feed consumption of crayfish with a weight of less than 0,5 g was 2,7% at a temperature 19–20°C; 4,8% for 23–24°C and 5,3% for 27–28°C of the individual’s weight per day. At the end of the experiment, in juveniles weighing more than 2,5 g, the feed consumption for variants 23–24°C and 27–28°C was 1,5% and 2,1%, respectively. The growth rate depended on temperature and at 19–20°C was 3–4 times lower than in the other two versions of the experiment. Based on the data obtained, it was concluded that the range of 23–28°C is within the temperature range optimal for cultivating juveniles. The temperature of 19–20°C does not ensure effective growth of juveniles, however, at this temperature the release of juveniles into ponds is possible.
METHODOLOGICAL ASPECTS OF FISHERY RESEARCH
The paper presents the results of the spatiotemporal standardization of the stock biomass index of red king crab in the Russian EEZ of the Barents Sea carried out using the generalized additive mixed effect model (GAMM) which was implemented in the sdmTMB library of the Renvironment. The spatiotemporal approach used in species distribution modelling within GAMM enables taking into account numerous environmental factors and fishing gears, thereby increasing the quality of the assessment especially in areas with data shortage. Additionally, in modelling the stock density for areas with no observations the space-time autocorrelation in between hauls is also taken into consideration.
ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL ASPECTS OF FISHERIES DEVELOPMENT
The article is devoted to the study of the characteristics of the fishery market in the Kamchatka Territory, which is one of the key regions of Russia for the extraction and processing of aquatic biological resources (ABR). The study includes a detailed analysis of the production of various types of FBR. The directions for the sale of fish products, both on the domestic market of Russia and on international markets, are discussed, identifying the main export directions and barriers that arise in conditions of foreign economic instability and sanctions pressure. Particular attention is paid to the dynamics of the consumer price index (CPI) for fish products, including factors influencing price increases.
