BIOLOGY OF COMMERCIAL HYDROBIONTS
Information on the distribution, migrations, stock status of the Norwegian spring-spawning herring is presented. The features of the models used to assess the state of its stock are considered.
The data on the age, size and weight structure, fertility, sex ratio, nutrition, and parasitofauna of the gizhigin-kamchatka herring living in the northeastern part of the Sea of Okhotsk are presented. Data on its distribution and reproduction features are presented. The dynamics of the number and biomass of this herring is reflected. The history of the study and fishing of this object is shown. Recommendations for rational use are given.
In the Russian water area of the Caspian Sea, after a long period of prohibition of marine net fishing, there is an increase in the intensity of catching marine migratory herring. Long-term monitoring studies confirm that the three species of the most massive herring (Dolginsky herring, Caspian puzanok, Big-eyed puzanok) are characterized by the stability of the biomass of the stock, the structure of populations by age and size-weight composition, the distribution of concentrations on spawning grounds, the yield of new generations. Sea herring is one of the underutilized resources of the Caspian Sea. Possible ways of solving the problem of development of fishing reserves are considered. The current state of reserves makes it possible to increase the annual industrial withdrawal of sea herring to 15,4 thousand tons.
Herring in Peter the Great Bay (Clupea pallasii) lives on the southern outskirts of the species’ range, is significantly inferior to other Far Eastern herring populations in level of stock, but is periodically able to form a relatively high abundance. A long-term analysis of the lengthage composition showed the presence in this population of fish groups that differ in life cycle duration, puberty time, and population dynamics. Stock level and success of reproductive strategy of herring in Peter the Great Bay determines the coincidence of intrapopulation factors and favorable features of the current climatic phase. In each new background, the population undergoes the initial stage of formation of the corresponding reproductive organization, preceding the increase in abundance.
Information on the distribution and main features of the biology of the largest groups of herring in the Bering Sea: Korfo-Karaginsky and the East Beringovomorskaya is presented. Data on the features of their reproduction are given. Showing the state of stocks and fishing.
ПРОМЫСЕЛ ГИДРОБИОНТОВ
Based on the MagadanNIRO materials for 1957–2021, the dynamics of the stock and fishery of the Okhotsk herring are considered. The dynamics of the main biological indicators of spawning Okhotsk herring in 2001–2021 is analyze. It is shown that after the end of the recovery and stabilization period, the stock of Okhotsk herring is at a high level with a tendency to increase. Biological indicators of producers of Okhotsk herring increased in 2011–2021.
The results of the analysis of fishery, biological state and estimates of the of korfo-karaginsk herring stock in 2011–2021 are presented. It is shown that after the lifting of the ban on the specialized herring fishery in 2011 and the increase in the catch, its volume gradually decreased and then stabilized at the average level of 43 thousand tons. The main catch is in November–December, and it is mainly carried out with midwater trawls. The basis of commercial catches in 2011–2013 consisted of fish of the 2007–2009 generations of age 4+. Then a long predominance of older age groups was observed. The main spawning area was Anapka Bay, that is typical for this population at the average level of its abundance. The results of avia and egg surveys showed a trend towards a decrease in the spawning stock. According to model estimates, both spawning and total stocks also declined in the period under consideration after the 2017 biomass peak. It is assumed that the catch in the coming years will remain at the same level and amount to 40–50 thousand tons.
White Sea herring (Clupea pallasii marisalbi Berg, 1923) is one of general commercial fisheries object. White Sea herring fishery determines the success of Murmansk, Arkhangelsk rejoins and Karelia Republic fishing companies.
The study and development of the stock of Chosa herring (Clupea pallasii suworovi) last about 100 years. In the 1940s and 60s, it was one of the main objects of coastal fishing in the Mezen Bay and the Czech Bay with a result of up to 830 tons/year. In the 1970s and 1990s, intensive marine fishing was conducted in the Barents Sea with maximum catches of over 4 thousand tons/year. In 1978–2017, the stock was estimated in the range of 1,5–50 thousand tons, higher estimates relate to mixed clusters of multi-vertebral and low-vertebral herring. The current state of the stock is consistently good, at the level of 25–27 thousand, but fishing is conducted by local residents exclusively for personal consumption. As an object of specialized fishing, the Chosa herring remains unclaimed.
The article presents the long-term dynamics of catches, total biomass and abundance of the stock of the Baltic herring (herring) Clupea harengus membras in the Russian waters of the 26th ICES subdivision of the Baltic Sea in 1993–2019 in comparison with the Central Baltic stock in 1974–2020. The contribution of the Russian water area of the Kaliningrad sector of the sea relative to the entire unit of herring stock is estimated.
ДИНАМИКА ЧИСЛЕННОСТИ
Long-term data collected in the proccess of scientific monitoring of commercial fisheries in the Kerch channel of the Black-Azov sea pontic shad in period 2004–2020 was analyzed. Static and dynamic parameters of population was evaluated. Von Bertalanffy growth model parameters estimated: Linf = 32,0 cm, K = 0,31, t0 = -2,09. Age and weight cohort structure of commercial fisheries in investigation period was estimated. Following results of assessment on fisheriesbiological data, including accounting surveys and surplus production modeling results, the Black-Azov sea pontic shad (r. Don) stock status describe by reduction in fisheries biomass with stable catch structure and level.
The long-term data of the spawning stock of passing herring are analyzed in accordance with its commercial catches. The current state of the age structure of producers with a division into replenishment and remainder is considered. The main reasons for the decline in the spawning stock are identified and recommendations are given for commercial exploitation aimed at preserving and restoring the population of black-backed herring.
УСЛОВИЯ ВОСПРОИЗВОДСТВА ПРОМЫСЛОВЫХ ГИДРОБИОНТОВ
The results of the spawning grounds distribution of the Pacific herring of the Sakhalin-Hokkaidо and Decastri populations off the west coast Sakhalin Island (Sea of Japan) for the period from 1930–1950 to 2020 are summarized. Including data on the distribution of spawning grounds, eggs density in 2019 and 2020. Available information indicates clear signs of a modern increase in the number of herring of the populations under consideration.
METHODOLOGICAL ASPECTS OF FISHERY RESEARCH
Methods for accounting of herring spawning grounds area using consumer grade underwater robots and UAVs were worked out. Such devices are promising for use due to their relatively low cost, ease of deployment and application. Experimental procedures were carried out from May 11 to June 9 in the Kruglaya and Tungusskaya bays (the northern part of the Okhotsk Sea) during the period of herring spawning. With the help of underwater robots, spawning grounds should be surveyed by short point diving and short transects. Series of screenshots of bottom, recorded on a mobile device, could be georeferenced automatically. The work should be accompanied by the recording of tracks, station coordinates and other attribute data in a mobile geographic information system (GIS). Unmanned flights over spawning grounds must be carried out in the mode of automatic linear and polygon missions or manually. For the orthophotos production, the optimal height is 150 m with a forward overlap of images no less than 80% and a side overlap no less than 50% (no less than 20% in case of very good bottom visibility and survey conditions). During harsh survey conditions, zigzag flights over spawning grounds at a height of 50 m are preferred with shooting a series of photographs without intersection and no orthophotos production. The materials of underwater and unmanned surveys, integrated into the desktop GIS, provide high accuracy and efficiency in estimating the area of spawning grounds, the maximum degree of documentation and verifiability of the obtained materials.
